The Columbus Farmers Market was established by
Harry Ruopp in 1929. It began as a livestock and farm equipment auction held
each Thursday at 11:00am and has grown over the years to the well-known flea
market and shopping center that it is today. Located on 200 acres and known as
one of the largest and most recognized outdoor bazaars on the East Coast, the
Columbus Farmers Market is a delight for every shopper, bargain-hunter and
collector. Each Thursday and Sunday, vendors fill over 1200 spaces with the
latest
in new
products, one-of-a-kind collectibles, wonderful antiques and garage sale
goodies. Some vendors have occupied the same weekly location for over 30 years
while other vendors just come to give the Market a try. And on Saturdays, any
one can bring out their wares and rent a space for only $10.00. To make outdoor
shopping and selling more enjoyable, brand-new all-weather pavilions protect
shoppers and sellers from inclement weather and transform the bazaar into an
all-weather market.
In addition to the hundreds of flea market vendors, there are over 60 inside
retail stores, open Thursday through Sunday. From bicycles to cosmetics, clothes
to videos, musical instruments to furniture, jewelry to paintball equipments,
the inside stores at the Columbus Farmers Market will meet all of your shopping
needs. And when you're hungry, you can choose from pizza, burgers, fried
chicken, funnel cake, bagels, hoagies and tons of other goodies. Need some more
cash? Two ATM's are on site for you. Finally, a special addition at the Market
is the 5,000 square foot Lancaster Meats store
featuring
Amish made wood products, quilts, foods, candles, storage sheds, furniture and
lots, lots more. Open on Thursdays and Saturdays, Lancaster Meats is the meeting
place of shoppers from miles around.
Of special interest is Produce Row, consisting of fresh seafood, fruit and
vegetable vendors, selling top-quality retail, fresh foods at wholesale prices.
Just the place to stock up on all of your fresh produce shopping needs.
And finally, don't
forget to stop at the Flower Row, where Ash's Flower Farm presents annuals,
perennials, shrubs, trees, gardening supplies, equipment and botanical gifts at
the most reasonable prices around. The best place to buy your seasonal plantings
and holiday greens, too.
There's something for everyone at the Columbus Farmers
Market. Parking id FREE! It is The Place where Everyone Shops!!!
